I can never think of a title, so there...
I can never think of a title for a post...
I've been doing OK with the Summer of Stash. I have not bought any yarn at all - not even any wool exception yarn for CIC (my only exception was I could buy wool for CIC, but only at yard sales). Of course, it's been raining so much, I haven't gone yard saling in ions, so that helps to not buy any.
Stash busting: Well, I've been doing great starting projects... I just haven't finished any! I'm working on two pairs of scrap socks - one of odds & ends of tapestry 100% wool & the other out of sock yarn, mainly greens.... Both are from the current Six Sock KAL; the first one done exactly as the pattern, the second one is slightly different.
I am working on a pair of mittens out of some wool yarn from a recycled sweater. It was a brown tweedy sweater, and I've made a gazillion things out of this yarn so far (mainly CIC stuff), and I still had about 6 ounces or so left (I didn't actually weigh it). So, I'm making the first pair of knitted mittens ever (I've crocheted mittens & gloves, just never knitted them). They'll be for me. I'm planning on making some gloves out of stash yarn, too - I want to make a pair of fancy church gloves & a pair of warm, serviceable gloves or mittens for my mom for Christmas. I've knitted her socks in the past & she hardly wears them, so I'm hoping maybe she'll at least use these. I'm also planning on making a pair of serviceable mittens for my husband's grandmother, who requested a pair from me last year & supposedly loved the loves I crocheted for her. They'll be out of acrylic I think, as I don't have any superwash wool (other than sock yarn) & she wants something very heavy duty & warm, and they have to be superwash or otherwise able to go into the washer & dryer.
I did cast on for a top using my chenille yarn - one of my planned projects - but other than casting on, I haven't touched it. I still plan on using woolease, and lustersheen, and probably gabs more.
So, I have my work cut out for me.
I've loved reading everyone's posts. I've tried to comment, but for some odd reason, I can never get the comment page to load. It pops up fine, but after a minute I get "page cannot be found". I'm on dial up, and I've had this problem before. Thanks for the great stash busting tips, ideas, and inspiration.
