Ann's Confession
I've only been knitting for two years now. I really don't think I have a stash problem per se. But I am losing control of it a bit. Here is my basket for yarn:
Here's what falls out after the basket gets taken out of the closet:
And then I see this lurking around the AC ductwork:
And then this from down by the guitar (that we never play btw):
And then this bag is full of yarn as well:
I'm afraid to look any further. So okay, maybe I need to get a handle on things.
My Exceptions:
1. I can buy souvenir yarn on our family trips: the Seattle/Vancouver Island area and Vermont.
2. I will be knitting small items for sale for my daughter's Waldorf School booth at the Farmer's Market this summer. I can buy a skein a month for these small projects.
Challenges:
1. I will knit an aran sweater for myself from the stash.
2. I will knit a fair isle hat from the stash for a friend.
3. I will use up odd balls and randomness on small projects for the Waldorf booth.
I am going out with a bang this weekend! I have no sock yarn in the stash since I'm just finishing my first pair, so this will be a pre-SoS priority. I am going to sit down and plan some other projects as well so that I don't get caught short on stash!
4 Comments:
Oh, Ann, you are in denial! What you have is stash! Can't wait until our final shopping spree on Friday!
You DO have stash! And honestly? I would have taken the guitar out of the case and use the case for yarn storage.
I'm just saying.
oh sock yarn, it's the most addictive of all the yarns. I'm jealous of your wild weekend spree, but one or two more than you think you'll need just to be safe. (oh here, I am enabling. I promise I'll be more supportive of the 'NOT' buying yarn once this starts)
Sock yarn is so seductive and sneaky. It says -- I'm not really yarn. Only a tiny bit. What do I count? Mwa ha ha ha.
The knitting is what really makes me want to send my children to a Waldorf school!
