Assistance needed in using stash!

Okay, so it isn't the best headline, but I really do need your help! I REALLY want to use some fabulous skeins I own to create Grumerina's Picovoli (http://www.magknits.com/Aug05/picovoli.htm) but my yarn is more of a dk weight...so the size 4 needle just isn't going to work. I am a small framed person (a pune according to my hubby) so I can't up the needle size and use a smaller pattern size. Has anyone already "done the math" for this beauty?

Here would be my advice: since the sweater is from the top down, it is easy to try it on as you go. I would do a good gauge swatch on whatever needles you think look best, do some easy conversions, and then just pick the size with the stitch counts closest to your desired measurement.

You only knit a few inches into the yoke and you'll know if it is a good fit or not. It is not like you knit most of the sweater before you know...
