Let Me Introduce Myself
Hi,
My name is SpiderWomanKnits this is my first SOS post and I have a confession to make...I am not a yarn addict. At least I wasn't when I started knitting a little over three years ago. Somehow things just got a little out of control, you know? I started out buying yarn at Michael's and JoAnne's for a project that I had a pattern for. If my little guy needed a sweater I would buy the yarn for it and knit it. When I needed a scarf I'd pick up a skein or two and whip one up. It was all so simple back then. There was no crafty clutter, no balls of yarn lounging around the house functioning as little spots of color here and there.
Then one day I met another knitter in a local coffee shop and we got to talking and she said, "You don't know what Kid Silk Haze is?" A few weeks later she took me to Webs Next thing I know my stash went from yarn just for the project on the needles to this...
Now, I know this stash must seem quite modest but that brings me back to my original statement. I seriously am not a yarn addict. I can walk away from yarn. I can love a color and leave it. But as a result of various tent sales or fiber fairs I have accumulated this yarn you see and it just sits there and while it is sitting there I'm thinking, "Hey, I'm a knitter I should be knitting that stuff!" So let's see how many cubes I can empty between now andRhinebeck Labor Day shall we?
Oh one other thing, I am a chronic purger with all other material possessions in my life and you can read about that here if you are so inclined but my yarn stash is quite sacred to me and has managed to evade my cleaning frenzies so far. It has been safe and snuggled up in it's cubes all this time. So let's all take a moment for the stash that is about to be used like it has never been used before :-)
I look foward to watching everyone trim their stash and create some beautiful things in the process. My best to everyone!

Woops! Forgot my exceptions...actually I only have one.
I am a new sock knitter and don't have any sock yarn in my stash so I will allow myself to purchase sock yarn if I find it at a festival and it is produced by a local yarn producer (because I am all about buying local) but it must meet both of those criteria. However, I will not start a new project with yarn purchased during the challenge until my challenge projects are done. Thats it! Now, let's do this!

Hi SWK. I actually found your blog yesterday, and I loved your knits -- you photograph them beautifully, and I really admired your stash. It is quite lovely.
I think we are similar stashers -- I started this SOS blog because I was beginning to feel a little oppressed by the stash, because there are so many projects in there that I want to knit, so many yarns I want to try that are just lying there in my stash. I am just taking a breather from more acquisitions -- it's just making my queue way too long.
This has to be the most organized stash I've seen!
