Oh, How the Mighty Have Fallen...
Hi Fellow Stash-User-Uppers!
I joined this Stashalong last week, but I've only just now found time to post.
I've been feeling pretty proud of myself going more than a MONTH before adding to my stash. My last purchase was April 24, 2006, and I bought a bag full of STR from a store that was destashing (!) STR. (I'm still in shock.)
I told DH, the Witty One, that I was joining this Stashalong, and he was THRILLED! We discussed the "exceptions" and the "reward," and we agreed that I didn't need to have any exceptions or reward. Well, I should have known better.
My DGM is turning 80 in July, and she has asked for a pair of lace socks in black to wear to church because her feet get cold.
"Sure, great, I would love to knit those for you, Mamaw!"
Drat, I don't have black sock yarn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Exception #1 down the drain. Bless Judy at www.TheKnitter.com because she has Lang Jawoll yarn in black with free shipping to US addresses! If I had to take an exception, at least I took it as inexpensively as possible!
I'm holding Exception #2 in reserve because I'm quite sure a family member or dear friend will request yarn I don't own. OK, I'll limit myself to two exceptions. That's it. Really.
Now, as for this reward. I REALLY want to try some Fleece Artist, Koigu, CTH, or Anne yarns. Using stash really should allow a knitter to purchase more yarn, shouldn't it?!?!? Again, I think I'll reserve my reward choice until closer to the time I need it. After all, some other family member or friend will probably request something I don't own.
Can you tell I really love my family and my friends?
Rejoice in your Summer of Stash, my friends. It is great that we have them.
Hugs,
Deb in Atlanta
