Addicted to Yarn and Coffee
yarncoffee
Thank God you only get a headache when you go through coffee withdrawal! I think the only pain I will experience by giving up yarn for the summer is the tingling feeling I get in my fingers when I walking into my LYS. I will just chant, "I cannot buy yarn, I cannot buy yarn." Looking like the crazy girl that mumbles to herself in public shouldn't be too bad for three months.
But seriously folks, I have looked at some of your blogs, I mean I thought I had a huge stash. I have a box full of yarn and was beginning to feel overwhelmed. Most of you all have way more than I do which made me feel much better. However, I am moving in two weeks and the idea of trying to figure out where I am going to store all this in a tiny one bedroom apt. is frightening. Here's a glance at what I have
Ok, so here it goes: I, Kirby, hereby commit myself to using complete and total restraint when it comes to yarn. I shall not purchase one ply of it till Labor Day (which happens to be just weeks before my birthday!)
Goal:
I will not buy any yarn till Labor day (what a glorious day it will be)! I will use what is currently in my stash to make gifts for friends (having all my holiday presents ready in time for Xmas this year will be a good thing! No more "IOU" cards). I will also use left over scraps to learn new knitting techniques and make my first article of clothing so I can practice gauge!
Exceptions:
I will be allowed to buy yarn necessary to complete my new granny square blanket. These are the only three kinds of yarn I am allowed to purchase. On the plus side to my exception, these yarns are quite cheap so I won't put too much of a dent in the ol' bank account.
Rewards!:
To congratulate myself on a successful yarn diet I will use my saving to afford me some sort of LYS knitting class. A Good Yarn in Federal Hill usually has some sort of class involving difficult knitting classes, like Aran Sweaters or something. Hopefully by the end of the summer, the move will be over and I think I will have a break in school work so with all the money I will have saved from starving my yarn addiction I should have time and money to afford the class.
