Not a Stashaholic - A Collector

Hi. My name is Lisa and I can honestly say that I have enough yarn to last me quite a while. I’m not even going to photograph it because it would be too scary. One of my problems is that the yarn is not out in the open. My craft room was turned into my daughter’s bedroom 6 years ago and all the craft stuff went into bins, cedar chests, under the bed or in my closet. And I can honestly say that I forget half of what I have – out of sight is definitely out of mind for me. It’s always an eye opener to look for something because I discover all of these new things.

My other problem is going to all of the blogs that I love to read. There is just too much to see and I am always inspired by something someone else is making. As we all know, the internet makes it way too easy to spend money. So, I must try to be strong because I know I am not going to stop reading the blogs. One day after signing up for this, I was already tempted by a project. But, I need to reconnect with the yarn and fiber that I already have. After all, there was a reason why I bought it in the first place and I could keep myself very busy with what I already have.

So, this summer I will be working on my Lotus Lace Tank from Interweave Knits (my Amazing Lace partner), Trekking socks and other socks, felted hedgehogs and baby gifts. I’d also like to donate some stash yarn. I know of some few places – http://www.warmwoolies.com/ being one. I’m sending out a package to Dulaan so I should start some new charity projects from the stash.

As far as exceptions go, there are a few things that I signed up before starting the Summer of Stash. The Socks That Rock club and the One Skein Secret Pal being two of them so I will have to purchase my secret pal a skein in July (have the June one already) and I will be getting the sock yarn. But since they were signed up for before joining this, I don't think that should count. My birthday is in June so that may be an exception but I think I'll hold off naming my exeptions now. My reward: hmmm… I can think of several good ones. Fiber from Spunky Electric’s fiber of the month club, a kit from Virtual yarn or freedom to go nuts at Rhinebeck in October. Although that last one is probably a given! I'm really going to try and be succeszful with this - I think it will feel really good to make it the whole summer.
