No yarn addiction here. No Way
So there I was last night fighting with myself. You see, I emailed my request to Liz at a time in the evening that I thought was fairly late. That way she wouldn’t see it until today. You know, the day after the cut-off date. I was expecting a response with something to the effect of sorry, sign-ups are now closed.
S.O.S. Can't that also be used as an acronym for Sink Or Swim? I mean, I don’t think I have a problem. But then again, isn’t one of the issues with addiction, denial? So I guess I will be fighting with myself the rest of the summer. It will be survival of the fittest for moi.
I’d already been considering joining the Summer of Stash Along since last week. Before doing that, I had to first buy some Katia Jamaica to add to my stash. Perhaps I could maybe work on Tulip. Is that cheating before even starting? Regarding my stash, I don’t have as much as some of the stash I’ve seen on some other blogs. I may have a slight issue with little indulgences. It’s the small purchases of $20 here and $50 there which begin to add up. Mind you, sometimes there’s no pattern in mind for the yarn. I’m buying blindly. See, I was really trying to get over on myself.
What was really the eye opener was when I went to flash my blue stash. I noticed most of them were in the same shades of blue. I didn’t realize that I had such a variety of blue yarn. In fact, there was some yarn that I’d forgotten about.
I’d like to be able to know the total yardage/miles in my stash as I've seen other bloggers have done. The thing is, I am not up to date on keeping a tally of that info. Did I mention there was yarn I forgot I had?
Ok so here goes…
My Goals
To use from my stash and not purchase yarn between now and Labor Day.
To make a decision as whether to complete or frog UFO’s
Kick to the curb the yarn I know I will not use. This I actually started doing a few months ago.
My Exceptions
I should be allowed one purchase which would have to be what I deem an unbelievable bargain. My bday is next month.
Would the Katia Jamaica be considered that one purchase?
Temptations:
Ha! Ha! I laugh in the face of temptation. I’m faced with temptation every time I walk by some of my favorite yarn stores. Would it be ok to cop a feel of some yarn?
My Rewards
How about something non-knitting related ?
I hear Godiva has a platinum collection. Mmm…Yum!
One or two of my favorite Philosophy products.
