A different sort of confession
I have a different sort of confession to make. Okay, ready? I hate my stash. There, I said it. A little bit of stash can be comforting: an inspiration, a canvas for creative exploration, a bulwark against being without a project. A larger stash, though: it's like a to-do list. And I hate to-do lists. Mine just sits there next to my computer taunting me:
Stash, Part 1
Stash, Part 2 (in a classy plastic trash can)
It's not all my fault, really. Most of my stash is made up of yarn left over from projects (before I got a little better at calculating how much I would need) or yarn inherited from my grandma. The rest I bought, but earmarked for specific projects. And a little bit of it is made up of some early FOs that need to be reincarnated. Nevertheless, there it is. It's got to go. Hopefully in Septemeber I'll have "after" photos of a much smaller stash!
Exceptions. 1, I want to put aside some of my grandma's yarn for special future projects. 2, If I need to buy yarn in order to finish a project, that's okay.
Goals. I'd like to finish two sweaters this summer, the one I'm working on right now (from stash yarn - so I guess I got a bit of a head start), which is a simple cable pullover modified from an old Classic Elite pattern, plus one for my husband - yup, yarn is in the stash. I also want to finish a pair of socks for my sis (all stash) and one for a friend. If I can get in a Noro scarf and a striped cable hat, bonus.
Strategies. Knit unseasonable projects. Hey, they'll be ready just in time for fall.
Reward. Buying yarn for a project I've been dreaming of (not sure which yet), without guilt!
