whoa nellie!
i spent a good chunk of time this evening reading all the previous confessions. i took notes and made a list. let's just say, i think i have enough stash to open my own shop! i have been knitting or crocheting for almost 17 years, and have not often limited my desires. if i had the money, and i wanted the yarn, i bought the yarn. i'm frugal in all other aspects of my life though ....
i am going cold turkey. NO EXCEPTIONS.
i am weak. the way i avoid other purchases in my life is to not shop. if i don't go shopping, i don't see things that i didn't know i needed. so, this means no looking at elann or other online shops. the tough part for me is that i work at my LYS. i see things every day that i want.
i love rowan. i can cite the color names of KSH in my sleep .... jelly, blush, marmelade ....
my goals include re-evaluating my stash. i want to finish my aran heirloom afghan from an old issue of interweave. i might sell some yarns on ebay. and i'd like to crochet some odd ball (hand)bags.
these are just a few ideas floating around my head tonight. i don't want too much structure, as this is my first KAL. i think goals and discipline are good, but i don't want to put pressure on something that i simply enjoy.
my reward? i think a yarn meter would be cool. it would be a great tool to compliment the stash, so i can measure out leftover bits of yarn.
you can keep tabs on me here.

I like your idea of a yarn meter as a reward. I sometimes (OK, often) buy 100gr balls of sock yarn. With a yarn meter, I could measure out half and work both socks at the same time.
Gray, you are my hero going totally cold turkey. We're with you!
